About this product

MultiPlus is a combined inverter and charger in one elegant package. Its many features include a true sine wave inverter, adaptive charging, hybrid PowerAssist technology, plus multiple system integration features. New model: MultiPlus 20k. The range covers 800VA, 1200VA, 1600VA, 2000VA, 3000VA, 5000VA, and 20kW, in 12V, 24V, and 48V versions. Whether you are powering a small campervan or building a 240kW industrial system, the same product family, the same configuration tools, and the same reliability apply.

 

Unique PowerAssist Feature

The MultiPlus will prevent overload of a limited AC source, such as a generator or shore power connection. First, battery charging will automatically be reduced when otherwise an overload would occur. The second level will boost the output of a generator or shore side supply with power taken from the battery. Plugged into a weak 16A shore supply but the air conditioning, water heater, and microwave all running? The MultiPlus adds inverter power from the batteries on top of the shore supply instead of tripping the pedestal breaker - then quietly recharges when the load drops.

 

Uninterrupted AC Power (UPS Function)

In the event of a grid failure, or when shore or generator power is disconnected, the inverter within the MultiPlus is automatically activated and takes over the supply to the connected loads. This happens so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic equipment will continue to operate without disruption. This UPS-grade transfer is consistent across the entire range, from the smallest 800VA unit to the 20kW flagship.

 

Virtually Unlimited Power Thanks to Parallel and Three-Phase Operation

Up to 6 MultiPlus units can operate in parallel to achieve higher power output. Six 24/5000/120 units, for example, will provide 25 kW / 30 kVA output power with 720 Amps charging capacity. Three units of the same model can be configured for three-phase output. But that is not all: up to 6 sets of three units can be parallel connected for a 75 kW / 90 kVA inverter with more than 2000 Amps charging capacity. With the 20kW model, a single unit already delivers 20kW continuous, and parallel configurations can reach 240kW using MultiPlus 20kW units.

 

Two AC Outputs

The main output has no-break functionality. The MultiPlus takes over the supply to the connected loads in the event of a grid failure or when shore/generator power is disconnected. The second output is live only when AC is available on the input of the MultiPlus. Loads that should not discharge the battery, like a water heater for example, can be connected to this output. The second output is available on models rated at 3 kVA and more.

 

PowerControl - Dealing with Limited Generator, Shore Side, or Grid Power

The MultiPlus is a very powerful battery charger. It will therefore draw a lot of current from the generator or shore side supply. With the Digital Multi Control panel a maximum generator or shore current can be set. The MultiPlus will then take account of other AC loads and use whatever is extra for charging, thus preventing the generator or shore supply from being overloaded.

 

Solar Energy - AC Power Available Even During a Grid Failure

The MultiPlus can be used in off-grid as well as grid-connected PV and other alternative energy systems. Loss of mains detection software is available. It is compatible with both solar charge controllers and grid-tied inverters, making it a versatile core component for hybrid energy systems.

 

Adaptive 4-Stage Charging - Battery-Friendly by Design

The MultiPlus features a microprocessor-driven adaptive battery management system with a four-stage charge profile: bulk, absorption, float, and storage. The adaptive function automatically adjusts the charging process to battery use - absorption time is kept short after slight discharge to prevent overcharging, and extended after deep discharge to fully recharge the battery. A temperature sensor is supplied to reduce charging voltage when battery temperature rises. A BatterySafe mode prevents damage from excessive gassing by automatically limiting the rate of voltage increase once the gassing voltage is reached. When the battery has not been discharged for 24 hours, Storage mode kicks in, reducing float voltage to 2.2V/cell (13.2V for a 12V battery) to minimise gassing and corrosion.

 

On-Site Configuration, Monitoring, and Control

In case of a stand-alone application, settings can be changed in a matter of minutes with a DIP switch setting procedure. Parallel and three-phase applications can be configured with VE.Bus Quick Configure and VE.Bus System Configurator software. Off-grid, grid-interactive, and self-consumption applications involving grid-tie inverters and/or MPPT solar chargers can be configured with Assistants (dedicated software for specific applications). Monitoring and control options include Cerbo GX, Ekrano GX, Color Control GX, Venus GX, Octo GX, CANvu GX, laptop, computer, Bluetooth (with the optional VE.Bus Smart Dongle), Battery Monitor, and the Digital Multi Control panel.

 

Remote Monitoring and Control

When coupled with a GX device (e.g. Cerbo GX) you can monitor and control your MultiPlus and system or systems locally (LAN) or remotely via the internet from anywhere in the world, using the free VRM app and VRM portal website. Access can be from a phone, tablet, laptop, or PC for multiple operating systems. There is no end to the level of control, from adjusting your MultiPlus to auto-starting a backup generator and more.

 

Battery Compatibility and Smart Management

The MultiPlus is compatible with LiFePO₄ lithium batteries as well as various other battery technologies. The programmable relay can be set for general alarm, DC under voltage, or genset start/stop function. Programmable analogue/digital input/output ports (Aux in 1 and Aux in 2) can be used for communication with the BMS of a lithium-ion battery.

 

Comprehensive Protection

The unit incorporates full protection against output short circuits, overload, battery over-voltage, battery under-voltage, over-temperature, AC on inverter output, and excessive input voltage ripple.

The MultiPlus is not a one-size-fits-all device. The same product line covers seven power classes, from the 800VA compact unit for a campervan to the 20kW flagship for industrial-scale installations. The right model depends entirely on the load profile and available space. Typical applications across the range include:
Campervans, motorhomes, and overlanding vehicles — the 800VA or 1200VA units power a fridge, lighting, device charging, and a Starlink terminal from a compact, quiet package. A 500VA unit dedicated to Starlink works flawlessly in an overlanding build, paired with a Cerbo GX for automated system control.
Small boats and day cruisers - the 1200VA or 1600VA units replace a standalone shore charger and add inverter capability for electronics, lighting, and small appliances, with UPS-grade transfer for navigation equipment.
Mid-sized yachts and off-grid cabins — the 2000VA or 3000VA units handle larger AC loads including refrigeration, water pumps, and modest air conditioning, with a 30A or 50A transfer switch depending on the model.
Large off-grid homes, commercial marine, and industrial backup - the 5000VA model delivers 4000W continuous with 10000W peak, a 100A transfer switch, and up to 6 units in parallel for 25kW / 30kVA output. The 20kW flagship, with 20kW continuous power at 25°C, 25kW peak, a 100A transfer switch, and up to 250A charging capacity, is engineered for the most demanding professional marine, yachting, vehicle, and land-based off-grid applications.
